Old Town Scottsdale's Honkey-Tonk Haven

When it comes to finding a blend of Southern charm, honky-tonk vibes, and delicious food in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, Belle’s Nashville Kitchen is the place to be. Opened in November 2020 by Mike and Nick, right in the middle of the pandemic, Belle’s quickly became a local favorite. With its welcoming atmosphere, live music, and scratch-made menu, this spot offers more than just a great meal, it’s an experience.

Mike, an architect by trade, designed much of what you see inside Belle’s. His vision of a honky-tonk bar in the desert became a reality, blending Old Town’s Western roots with a lively Southern vibe. Nick, bringing over 20 years of hospitality experience, handles the day-to-day operations with finesse. Together, they’ve created a space that feels like a home away from home, offering great food, drinks, and music in a fun, casual setting.

Belle’s is a scratch kitchen, meaning everything on the menu is made in-house, right down to the sauces. This dedication to quality sets them apart, ensuring that every dish is fresh and flavorful.

At Belle’s, it’s not just the food that shines. Under the guidance of their talented General Manager, Janel Alderman, Belle’s has become a hotspot for craft cocktails and an impressive selection of nearly 100 bourbons and whiskeys. Janel has been with Belle’s since day one, and her passion for creating unique, flavorful drinks is evident in every sip. She even creates her own infusions, which are so popular they often sell out!

Whether you’re sipping on one of her craft cocktails or sampling the wide array of bourbons, Belle’s bar menu is sure to impress.

Of course, the star of the show at Belle’s is their Nashville Hot Chicken. Available in three spice levels—Baby Bird, Mother Clucker, and the daring Poultrygeist—there’s a heat level for everyone. I am definitely a "baby bird", but the "mother clucker" was actually really good too, with each bite delivering a kick that leaves you wanting more.

In fact, Belle’s Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich won Best Sandwich in Phoenix in 2021, and it’s easy to see why. Crispy, spicy, and perfectly balanced, this sandwich is the perfect representation of what Belle’s does best, comfort food with a bold Southern twist.

Belle’s is more than just a great spot to grab a bite; it’s a hub for live music and entertainment in Old Town. With live music six nights a week and all day on weekends, Belle’s has a roster of over 150 musicians in rotation, from local artists to touring acts.

On Tuesdays, they host an open mic night, giving local talent the chance to shine, and they also feature Dueling Pianos every couple of months, adding an extra layer of fun to the mix.

There are a ton of great appetizers here. During my visit, I got to try the Best of Belle’s, a sample platter that includes their Kool-aid pickles, Nashville hot chicken fingers, and Devils on horseback (Belle’s take on jalapeño poppers, only better). Each bite was bursting with flavor, and it’s the perfect way to get a taste of what Belle’s has to offer.

I also couldn’t resist trying the famous Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and their mac n cheese, both of which lived up to the hype. The mac n cheese is creamy, cheesy, and the perfect comfort food to pair with the spicy kick of the chicken.

If you’re in Old Town Scottsdale and craving Southern comfort food with a kick, head to Belle’s Nashville Kitchen. Whether you’re there for the food, drinks, or live music, Belle’s offers an unforgettable dining experience that’s full of heart, heat, and honky-tonk fun.
