Located in the vibrant Melrose District of Phoenix, Melrose Kitchen has long been a beloved neighborhood gem, known for its welcoming atmosphere, classic American fare, and unique character that draws locals and visitors alike. This cozy diner is a testament to community and comfort, offering a menu filled with hearty breakfast and lunch options, perfect for anyone craving a taste of home.
Melrose Kitchen is more than just a restaurant, it's a slice of Phoenix history. This restaurant has served the community for years, building a reputation for quality and comfort. With generous portions and a down-to-earth vibe, the menu at Melrose Kitchen has something for everyone, from a mouthwatering Chicken "IN" Waffles to French Toast Bake to Pork Belly BLT and fresh Rice Bowls. My favorite was definitely their Chicken "IN" Waffles, a signature item of theirs, featuring a buttermilk waffle-battered chicken, pearl sugar waffle, hash browns, and pralines. The chicken is so juicy and crispy, paired with a soft and sweet waffle and a decadent maple syrup to pour on top, I could not stop eating it.
Their French Toast Bake was made with a lot of care. It takes 15-20 minutes to make, but it is worth the wait! A challah french toast soufflé, with bacon, brown sugar, maple syrup, & topped with whipped cream baked in cast iron. It's warm and rich, making it another delicious breakfast option. Now for lunch, you have to try their Pork Belly BLT. A perfectly cooked pork belly on fresh focaccia, it makes for the perfect sandwich. There are also homemade cut french fries that just add another level to this.
During my visit I also got to try some new menu items that are going to be a must try. The first is a shakshuka, with a fresh and bright tomato base, perfectly poached eggs and some focaccia bread for dipping. The presentation of it alone really stood out to me and then it tasted as good as it looked. They are also bringing a new rice bowl to the menu. You will be able to choose your choice of protein (or can be made vegan), along with lots of fresh roasted vegetables and pickled onions and mushrooms. A great healthy lunch option for those looking for something a little lighter. Lastly, a new veggie burger will be coming back to the menu. It was a favorite in the past, however the recipe has been tweaked to deliver more deliciousness. Even though I wouldn't normally order a veggie burger, this one I really enjoyed. It's a really clean burger, with fresh ingredients and for a burger is actually light. I could actually see myself ordering it again when I'm craving a burger, but don't want to be weighed down by a heavy meal.
Beyond the delicious food, Melrose Kitchen’s walls tell a story of their own. Decorated with unique, eclectic pieces, the restaurant’s charm perfectly reflects the creative spirit of the Melrose District. It’s a spot where everyone feels like family, and where the staff treats you with the warmth and friendliness of a true neighborhood favorite.
Whether you’re a Phoenix native or just passing through, Melrose Kitchen invites you to take a seat at their table and enjoy a meal made with heart. It’s a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic taste of the Melrose District and the warm, welcoming energy that makes this neighborhood a standout in Phoenix.
