If you're searching for an authentic Italian dining experience in Scottsdale, The Italiano is where you need to be. Located in Scottsdale, this spot offers a menu filled with traditional Italian dishes that will transport your taste buds straight to Italy.

Just walking into this restaurant, you feel instantly transported. Chef Joey Maggiore really outdid himself, creating a beautiful and stunning restaurant, featuring some phenomenal artwork and of course paying homage to Tomaso Maggiore. One of the aspects that really sets this restaurant apart is the service and people who work there. During my entire visit, you can tell that every single person that worked there really enjoyed being there and on numerous occasions, were always speaking highly of Chef Joey and how great it is to work and be a part of his team.

One of the standout appetizers is their Eggplant & Zucchini Napoletana. This dish features layers of tender and thinly sliced eggplant and zucchini that are lightly fried and finished off with some mint and pecorino, along with some big dollops of fresh ricotta. It's the perfect starter for any meal, offering a delightful blend of freshness and comfort.

Another fantastic appetizer is the Imported Burrata, which showcases the creamy, rich texture of burrata cheese paired with fresh tomatoes, roasted peppers, basil, evoo and balsamic pearls. The simplicity and quality of this dish speak volumes, highlighting the attention to detail in every bite.

For those who love a classic, the Caesar Salad get ready for something here that is a must-try. Giant and crisp baby gem lettuce inside a focaccia bread wheel, with a creamy parmigiano dressing, giving a perfectly balanced salad with a burst of flavor.

Of course you have to try the homemade pasta. During my visit, Chef Joey brought out a Trio of Ravioli, which was a true treat. Each of these ravioli's normally comes as a dish on their own, but this was a nice way to try each of their 3 ravioli dishes, Short Rib, Butternut Squash and Lobster. The lobster ravioli were light and delicate, while still packed with lots of lobster. Both the Short Rib and Butternut Squash are both recipes from Chef Tomaso Maggiore, each bite offering a different experience, and the accompanying sauce enhances the flavors without overpowering them. Something really unique that I haven't experienced before was on the butternut squash, you'll find a dusting of cookie dust, brining a little extra sweetness to the dish.

Now when Chef Joey cooks something for you, you know you are in for a treat. The Chicken & Sausage Scarpariello is a must-order. The tender chicken and savory sausage are pan roasted with garlic, mild cherry peppers, and finished with a tangy sauce that ties the dish together beautifully. It's a robust, comforting dish that's perfect for sharing or enjoying on your own.

No meal is complete without dessert, and The Italiano does not disappoint. The Zabaglione, a classic Italian custard, is light, airy, and perfectly sweet. It makes for a delightful end to any meal. The Tiramisu is another favorite, with this version being served in a delicate and delicious chocolate cup. The level of detail that goes into creating something like this is no easy feat. Executive Pastry Chef Thierry Delourneaux has really outdone himself with the creation and another...one of my personal favorite desserts are cannolis. The Sicilian Cannoli Cigars offer a crisp, sweet tuile, filled with a creamy and sweet ricotta cream, along with some chocolate chips that brings the right amount of crunch and sweetness to satisfy any dessert lover. What makes this creation so unique is how they look exactly like cigars!

Whether you're craving classic Italian dishes or looking to try something new, The Italiano offers an incredible dining experience that celebrates the flavors and traditions of Italy. From the fresh ingredients to the expertly crafted dishes, every meal here is a culinary journey worth taking.
