Now it's a very rare and special occasion because I truly believe The Mick Brasserie is a hidden Arizona gem. A true experience that leaves you satisfied on every level, but has you craving to come back for more.
The Mick is a true gem that is sharing an unique experience with Arizona. From their delicious food program, to master wine pairings and top quality service at every turn, this is a place you have to try!
To start, the overall service here is some of the best I've ever experienced. Now I want to be transparent, a lot of times when I visit a restaurant, sometimes I do get special treatment; a manager might come over for a chat, a chef will say hello, etc... Yes, during this experience I did get to talk to the chef multiple times and their sommelier Jeff really spend a lot of his time with us, BUT it wasn't just me, it was the entire restaurant. It was really nice to see the chef consistently making rounds to the guests to not only talk about the dishes, but to make sure everything lived up to his standards. Their sommelier Jeff was always spending time with every single guest to ensure they got the perfect drinks with their meals. Jeff had me saber a bottle for the first time, which was a lot of fun, but seeing him take a couple who came in for an anniversary and share that same experience with them, really goes to show the entire team at The Mick is about creating those experiences for every single guest.
The food here is exceptional and quite impressive. The kitchen is really small, but that does not stop them from creating some beautiful and delicious dishes. We always eat with our eyes first and just from the first looks, each dish comes out looking better than the next. The menu overall has a nice balance of steaks, fish, pork, and veg options, so everyone can find that perfect dish. Taste wise, the flavors of each dish really stand true. With every bite you can individually taste each ingredient and see how they all come together. I always say good food does not have to be complicated! During my visit I tried the Sesame Focaccia, Escargot, Crab Stack, Octopus Ceviche, Foie Gras Mousse Parfait, Duck Confit Cavatelli, and ended the meal with a delicious Blueberry Brioche Bread Pudding.
If you are looking for a wine pairing while you are here, The Mick has an expert wine sommelier, Jeff Menzer. His knowledge of wine is world class and explains wine in a way that you can really relate to and understand. He's also all about making wine fun, so even if you are no wine expert (which I am not) he will make sure you enjoy yourself.
The Mick is all about creating experiences and their next big event is their World Cup of Wine. The World Cup of Wine (WCOW) is a special competition that The Mick hosts to celebrate the diversity of wines from countries around the world. Each match consists of a special 4 course tasting menu that is paired with wines from two competing countries. As a guest, you will get to blind taste each course and vote on which wine pairs best with each course. The winning country moves to the next round, with the winner of the semi-finals competing against the USA in the finale! This event spreads over the course of a few months, with the first match starting Monday, August 19th. Seats are limited so you can head over here to secure your seat for any of the matches.
Overall, this restaurant is a great experience and one of if not the best I have personally dined at in Arizona. Their menu does change over the seasons, so if you are looking to try anything I shared today, best to make that reservation soon!
